Combining Stages...

As pretty and interesting I think Gijon was, I feel completely the opposite about Aviles. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake, as my hotel ends up being off the beaten track a bit, but when I wake up this morning, I just want to get out of Dodge...

Why couldn't I have found a hotel that looked like this instead, with bright colors and lots of flowers?...

My walk today will be a quick jaunt to the ocean, and then lots of forest paths...

This sure isn't Janis Joplins Salina, lord!

Did I mention that the Spanish will tile anything? This is one of those times it really works, and looks super cool...

So many interesting houses!

To be honest though, I'm now only taking pictues of every other church, as this is getting a little out of control...

The day is on and off rainy, but it makes the road gleam and the foliage pop!

I just have to hear my heavy breathing to know we're at the top of another climb...

Cute as a button, and delicious too!

I will have many variations of this view today...

Don't know if it's obvious, but this is a crazy angled slope... The Spanish must build things 3x faster than anybody else in the world because they bypass basic needs, like stairs..

A little village I pass through...

My first Castillo!

I get close to an estuary that flows into the ocean, but that's as close as I will get..

The mist really sets the mood for this days walk!

Another old village slips away as I pound the pavement...

Boats near low tide..

Walking through a typical country village. .

Muros de Nalon town square, my original stage destination, before I decided I needed to step up my game, and start combining 3 stages into 2, so I can still potentially reach my final destination of Finisterre...

Something about these old abandoned buidings... I want to rehabilitate them and bring them back to life!...

Across an old bridge...

... and back into the woods...

Fall foliage...

If a tree falls in the forest, does anybody hear it?

My stay for the night...

My view from my room...

I'm in a little hamlet, and there is one tavern that serves food, so...

I start with a half order of mussels in spicy sauce... and then this platter... Aviles sausage, Iberian ham, 2 fried egg, Padron peppers (these are awesome- about 1 in 7 is hot, but you don't know which one!), and fried potatoes... very satisfying!

Dessert is another one of these cheese flags... omg!

I finish with a Spanish liquer, Herbasia...

Distance traveled today- 27 kms..

TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELLED SO FAR- 606 KMS

Only 27 km, pffft

Your legs must be feelingmuch better if you're not talking about them How the heck did your feet heal up when you're doing greater distances each day, lately? Did the antibacterial cream do that? Anyway, it's very fortunate!

You've been on the road for a full week... er, month (week, month... some say 'tomatoe' , some say 'tomato'). Anyway, that's a LONG run already!

Creme caramels every f#$$ing day - tough life 😆

Congrats on the month mark: that's a pretty huge achievement!

One of the things you were contending with was getting up early but are you way more comfortable waking at 7am now?

Now go get yourself a double creme caramel dessert to celebrate,…
