The albergue at around 8am...

Right before I realized I had forgotten my walking sticks at the albergue, I turned around to see the mist rolling across the fields...
Feeling good in the morning!

A Spanish villa along the Way...

The obligatory daily mountain vista!

A path in the woods. .

This steep descent into a gully full of wet river rocks is my nightmare scenario... With no traction on my shoes, I descend at the speed and hesitation of a 95 year old man, or risk sliding to the bottom on my rumpus. .
Are hippo horses a thing?
All these sheep had black heads and white bodies... neat!

I'm thinking this graffiti artist did better in political science classes than math classes.

Walking into Lezama.. I noticed a substantial lumber industry in the area...

I honestly panicked when I saw this, wondering if I had actually walked backwards to Gernika again...
Lunch on the road...

The streets and roadways of Spain are just crawling with critters! I've seen hundreds and hundreds of geckos, scarab beetles, slugs, worms etc...

This guy looked at me like I could help him plan his escape!

Those numbers make more sense...
I got seriously lost here and ended up on a ledge that closed to about a foot and a half and then just abruptly ended... thankfully, while it certainly added a lot of elevation to my day, the extra mileage was minimal...
Bilbao in the distance...

The stairs into Bilbao center...

A street scene in the city...

I meet up with Jo and Serin, and their friend Ramona, a German woman who they did a previous camino with, and we do a Pintxos tour of Bilbao, but first Gin and Tonics all around!

The cathedral in Bilbao...

Sangria in the plaza... and this, unfortunately, is when my phone died... but I can assure you, the pintxos, and company, were fantastic!
Distance walked today- 29km
TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELLED SO FAR- 181KMS
My goodness, Lawrence! You walked so much today.
I have been loving all the pictures of the landscape and the animals. Those path photos carry an air of mystery and adventure. I bet a framed collection of these would look incredible on a wall. Keep taking those shots, please.
Something else that I've appreciated are the bird sounds. I hear trilling and melodic chirping pretty often in the background, and it sounds so lovely.
Yeah, I've heard hikers say that going down is much harder on the knees than going up. Hang in there ... the flat terrain is just around the corner. In the meantime, you've had the good fortune of a nurse's care --- my FAVOURITE kind of…
The relive map at the end of your posts is very cool.
It also gives us some anxiety because it’s the 29th here, so we don’t know if you’re lost again or settled in a village eating pintxos for two days.
Hopefully it’s all downhill from there
Hi Lawrence good walking day considering you forgot your Walking Sticks ate two large pieces of Cheese and got lost.
Great job today Lar! Looks like you’re having an awesome time. Don’t be afraid to take a pill or 2 to keep you comfortable on your walks. It will make the whole experience much better for you if you don’t have to think about the pain.
