Last night's albergue, in Olabe, with a fantastic view from the terrace. It goes without saying, Anja and I were the last ones out...

Eucalyptus trees... everywhere in Northern Spain...

Enjoying a little down time...

Frankly, these mountains scenes are all blending together now...
The key to a good blog is excellent camera work... wait for it...
To start the day I took an alternate route, which took me across this very old stone bridge...
I just love the sound of running water...

A couple of good looking horses...

A mushroom Anja found along the way... identified on google lens as Zellers Bolete, but we didn't eat it because you should never get your wild mushrooms from Zellers...

First view of Gernika...
Waiting for a train to pass in the middle of the city...
Gernika is an interesting city with a tragic history. As explained to us by a Spaniard, while Spain was not an official ally of Germany in WWII, Franco wanted to show Hitler his loyalty, so he allowed the Lufftwaffe to use Gernika as a practise target for bomb raids, levelling a majority of the city.

... leading Picasso to create this mural commemorating the events..
Market day! I love them... bought 2 pieces of cheese, a loaf of bread and dome fruit... BTW, the people in Gernika were all very well dressed, like it was an event day...

This mandarin was so good, I went back to the vendor and bought 2 more!...
Another corner in Gernika... would have taken more video, but we met Serin and Jo here, and Serin was very under the weather and we were more concerned for her at the time, although she made a speedy recovery...

A pretty street on the way out of town...
Last view of Gernika, always heading uphill...

Pampas grass, seen all over...
Just another Mountain view...
At the albergue in Ponzueta... Very highly rated, and they served us a 4 course meal... The place was jamming, with all 16 beds inside full, and all 6 tents outside full, as well as some others with their own tents...

Another view of the albergue .

Dinner at the albergue... We started with a broth soup with pasta; followed by an unbelievable salad that had avocado, tuna, corn, and warm onions; fried pork loin with fries; and a big platter of fruit with winter and watermelon and grapes, all washed fown with a pitcher of red wine.... all the food was sourced from their farm behind the albergue...
Distance walked today- 15kms
TOTAL DISTANCE WALKED SO FAR- 152KMS
Ha, nice!
Hey, you're eating so well, you're going to gain weight, lol! 😆
You're at 150km, but maybe include the day so we know which day you're on; this post mentioned Sunday but it's Thrusday here.
Get your shit together so I can enjoy your posts just a teeny bit more from the comfort of my couch. I mean - it's not like your have ANYTHING better to do! 🤓
Keep it up!
