Wow! Still can't believe we walked 36kms yesterday... My feet, and especially knees, feel pretty good this morning, and I am looking forward to exploring a bit.

DJ David Price and I, still on a bit of a high after completing yesterday's walk...
A quick video of the common areas of the convent albergue we spe t the night at...
Aftera quick breakfast, I head out to explore Santillana del Mar, a baroque city with most of its buildings dating to the 1500's...

Old roads leading to the center of Santillana..

There were a couple exhibitions I wanted to see here, including this torture museum which focused on the Spanish Inquisition, but they were closed...

Another awesome little street in the village..
A view of the old town square...

One of the better tortillas I have had, with Jamon on top...

Love these old roads ..

It was a nice walk out o f town as well...
My landscape for the day...

Your daily cow pic....

It's always nice to come around a corner and see brightly painted houses..

First alpaca sighting...

The Parochial Churchb of San Pedro...
More mountains and water...

Take me home, country roads...

Lots of cactus in Spain..

An old 16th or 17th century fortified home belonging to a minor noble...

St. Peters Church in Limpias, Cantabria...

Now that's a grand entrance!

Beach break!
Turns out, I found a much more interesting day awaiting me in Comillas...

Litte rivers and streams running everywhere through the Spanish countryside...
It was a straight climb coming away from the beach...
This one's for Uncle Ronny ..

Loved the windows on this villa in the middle of nowhere...

Could have stopped at this little beach outside Comillas...

... but instead chose to go here, the Caprice of Comillas, by Antoni Gaudi, a home the famous architect built for a young bachelor lawyer... I'll let the next few photos speak to his brilliance and imagination...

Check out the 3D sunflower tiles...

I think the inside was maybe more brilliant than the outside...

The old section of Conillas...

The fountain in the town square...

Fruits and veggies for sale...

The house on the left is decrepit and falling apart, but still gorgeous...

I saw this girl from miles away, and knew I had to get an up close view... She appeared to be standing guard over an abandoned building from afar, but I realized when I pulled up closer that it was a walled cemetery...

Just a few of the people I met in Comillas...

The port and beach of Comillas...
Backi in the old section of town...

Lots of restaurants...
Dinner bells!

I met Jean Francois un the street and we decided to go for dinner. He was upset, as he was under the assumption that he had pucked up some bedbugs the previous stop, so we had a couple of beers to calm him down... Dinner was pretty basic, as most restaurants were closed on this evening, so we ate at a local tavern, where I had calamari Roman style, and then a plate of chorizo, eggs and potatoes... Great comfort food!

When I arrived in town at 4pm, I thought it would be no problem to get a bed at the albergue, which is located st the very top of the highest hill in town. Of course, they were ful, but the guy at the desk kindly took me outside and pointed halfway down the hill to a pensione. For just a little more than I would have spent to sleep in a bunk bed with 8 or 1 0 other people, I had a quaint comfortable room to myself!
Distance walked today- 27kms
TOTAL DISTANCE WALKED SO FAR- 372 KMS
Just in case nobody reminded you today: you know you're a son of a bitch, right?
Get us all feelings sorry for you then you go on a merry little jaunt; drinking 'just a quick radler', eating tortillas with the best ham, amazing olives 🫒. REALLY looks like my boy is sufferjng!
That beach by the lawyers house looks amazing and the estate was crazy.
The Parochial Church of San Pedro Feijo? Sounds familiar.
