On the Road Again ..

So, I wasn't sure how this day was going to go... but by golly, I was heading out on the road today, and let the chips fall where they may...

But first, a cafe con leche and tortilla... this one was quite good...
Not sure how a blogger extraordinaire manages to cut off a several minute video after 13 seconds, but the gist of this was that my feet have reacted very well to the antibiotic cream, and that the late Monday night lancing of a second infection on the side of my big toe has brought huge relief, and I feel like I am in a good position to move forward, although how I finish the day, or whether I am able to continue the following day is up for debate at this time...

Ribadasella harbour on my way out of town...

Boats everywhere...

... but not all of them are in great working order...

A beautiful beach awaits on the other side of the bridge at Ribadasella, with huge houses looking over the coastline, and I had no idea...

I would happily live here...

I cant get over these giant cactus everywhere...

Back along the beautiful coastline...

... but also never far from the mountains...

Daily cow pic #1...
Uphill climbs as far as the eye can see...

I get excited every time i see the ocean in the distance, making a looming decision that much easier for me..

These raised outhouses are all over Asturia... I assume they are to store harvested crops through the winter, but will ask around... Okay, I've asked, and I am correct...

A pretty village road...
Cool painted murals on these houses and outhouses really bring this corner to life.

Another magical path...

At an albergue along the way, where signposts indicate that pilgrims have travelled from all corners of the earth...
Off track, again. What else is new?

Smartest cow I've ever seen, using the tree as a hammock for his head...

Back along the water, briefly...

Always so pretty!

I'm wondering if I have an unhealthy obsession with arches...
Things are looking up!

As I arrive in Colunga, I am greeted by captivating architecture everywhere...

Love this old house...

My hotel for the night... also where I have dinner, based on google reviews...
The view from my room was much nicer than the room itself. There's a distinct theme to accommodations in the older quarters, which includes rickety electrical outlets, some minor holes in the walls/floors, undetermined smears on most of the walls, linens that are mostly clean looking, and bathrooms with darker than normal lighting and smaller than normal sized people fixtures, affixed in the most weird ways, just so they fit in the bathroom...
Proprietor of said establishment, who manages to communicate to me through waves and hand signals and my limited understanding of the Spanish language, that dinner doesn't start to be served until 930pm... Bring on the cider!

I've walked 20+ kms, had little to eat, and I'm now on my 2nd bottle of cider... I needed the chips just to get me to 930pm!

930pm arrives, and I finally get to order... I start with an order of calamari, which are okay but my guess is they are prebought, as they are really large, and slightly chewy, unlike some of the fresh ones I have had recently...

The Fabada, on the other hand, is delightful, rich with chorizo, blood sausage, pork belly and chicken... I will look for this again... It is so good...

This teeny, tiny little piece of cheesecake is just enough to take the richness and fat frombthe fabada down a notch, and I am now content to go to bed. .
Distance travelled today- 23kms
TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELLED SO FAR- 491 KMS
I thought the cow was trying to hide behind that tree, and surmised that it maybe wasn’t so smart…. But you were there so I’ll trust your perspective!
Man, some nice paths you've walked along this day!
22 kms is nothing to sneeze at so it looks like your rest helped your feet quite a bit.
The food looks pretty good but still not great to me, lol! At least you're in a cheaper hotel which seems heaps better than a hostel.
Enjoy your stay there... but not TOO much: get ready for the road tomorrow!
Sounds like your feet are “holding up” don’t try to make up for lost time, glad you enjoy the cuisine cause I’m not sure I would .
